Stop Circus Suffering

Take action when the circus comes to town!

When a circus with animals comes to your home town, please take action to highlight the suffering

  • Email usa@ad-international.org to order our free “Stop Circus Suffering” leaflets. Even taking 20 and delivering them through letter boxes or taking them to your local library or vets practice will help.
  • Have an information booth in your town center. ADI can provide you with materials and loan you (free) a “Stop Circus Suffering” banner for the table.
  • Take part in a demo. ADI can help organize this with you. We can put you in touch with other supporters in your area and provide you with all the materials you will need.
  • Write a Letter to the Editor of your local newspaper. Start a public dialogue in your community by writing a letter to your local newspaper editor about animal abuse in US circuses. Contact ADI for materials which you can use to help formulate your letter.
  • Go wild! Hold a leafleting session with your friends and family dressed up as animals, with a ringmaster or ringmistress. ADI can contact your local media and help you organize a photo call to raise awareness that the circus is coming and why people should boycott the show.

Animals should be allowed to live wild and free in their own habitat It is animal cruelty to keep them caged up and to make them perform

    1. Carole Menninger · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

agree, which is why those of us who care about these animals must educate, enlighten others on the horrors of circus life – they have several xcellent links on this write-up on ways each of us can help

  3. Joanne · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

All animals are suffering so much that is very cruelty to them so time for all animals to go free right now forever.. Do it now I am MAD…. Move all animals to freedom places where animals can play around instead of salves in circuses….. Thanks

    1. Leann · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

Hi, Joanne. Being “mad” isn’t enough. We have to put our money where our mouth is and take action.

    A B U S E SEES NO SPECIES!!!
When children see animals in a circus, they learn that animals exist for our amusement. Quite apart from the cruelty involved in training and confining these animals, the whole idea that we should enjoy the humiliating spectacle of an elephant or lion made to perform circus tricks shows a lack of respect for the animals as individuals.

These animals do not perform these acts willingly. It is NOT natural behavior for them. They are exploited ,abused, torchered for greed. This is not an event that should be promoted it is an event that should be banned.

Tormented wild creatures, hosting shows for ignorant, trusting humans. What a anomali.
    BAN ANIMALS IN CIRCUSES GLOBALLY!!!

    1. olga johnson · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

animals in circuses must be banned by effective legislation globally. It is obscene to keep animals in cages and anyone who does this is not fit to be called human, This MUST stop!!

    2. Carole Menninger · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

all great comments – tell others you know NEVER to attend another circus and then show them just how bad they are

  5. Danielle · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

I am shocked that this many circuses are still going on in 2014. 26 (TWENTY SIX) countries have banned animals in circuses. Come on, United States.

I cannot understand why in 21st century people have to enslave animals to make money.
Why people have to be entertained by the animals…
This is not a necessity for us to be happy!
There are so many wonderful things in this world that could entertain people such as music, arts, sports, technology, science…..
Enslaving animals for entertainment in my opinion is barbaric and cannot be appreciated.
The only way this will change is through constructive education and boycotting abusive and cruel operations.

My daughter just forwarded your info to me – wish I had known sooner – Cole Brothers is here in Panama City Beach this weekend and I could not find an organized protest group – will appreciate any info and direction to prevent this group from coming to my area next year – thanks

After watching the vidoe of Bobby Roberts beating a chained elephant FOR NO REASON there can be no doubt of the cruelty of these sick people who misuse these intelligent sentient creatures. I can’t even imagine what things happened that weren’t captured on hidden video. I hope he gets lots of jail time and a taste of his own medicine. To think that elephants have been blamed for going beserk and escaping!!!!!!!

  11. valerie flet · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

no animals should have to perform an be forced to do tricks . its not good enough why should they the laws need to be looked at . i am disgusted with how these beautiful creatures are treated dont they have rights . but i am glad the public are getting to no how bad this is all over the world.

Que l’on prenne des êtres humains afin qu’ils deviennent des bêtes de foire, arrachés à leur éléments naturels et famille. Pas de pauvres bêtes sans défense.

  13. v windust · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

I live in France, but am British. I have just read that France still enjoys many animal circuses even though Europe has banned or restricted animal acts. I had not realised this.

  14. Allie · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

Shrine Circus based in Colorado uses Siberian Tigers in their shoes! It did not feel right to see them in cages. Beautiful white Siberian tigers! Just use people as performers for the shows, not animals. Let’s contact local politician’s to produce a bill in CO to ban use of wild animals in the State!

  15. Ana Morris · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

Thanks ADI one of the best organizations. We will never stop fighting until circuses with animals are looked upon as part of our shameful history.

  16. Kris Rhood · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

Meanwhile there are many human performers who would love to have a job working in a circus and can’t get one!

  18. Asanka · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

    Dont eat animals ..

  19. Brianna · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

These animals are not toys they should be out in the wild in their natural habitat instead of a circus which trainers treat them poorly barley feed them and treat them like a toy to entertain people .I get sick when I see a cage of tigers .Circus are horrible I get it might be entertaining but its really not to the poor animals who are suffering you putting them in small cages really effect them they could become very weak and you hardly feed them they are starving and never fed how supposed to instead you feed them on a poor diet which is terrible why even want to have a circus .seeing animals hurt me and just imagine you being treated like a animal and being on a poor diet and fed wrong AND treated like some type of toy ? Would you like it ,i’m pretty sure you wouldn’t at all so just imagine what those poor animals have to go through .

  20. ana · 2 October 2018 at 11:45a

Anything recent 2022 happening to help our animals? With several social media platforms, i have learned about so much abuse to our loving animals and it hurts to the core. We need to make noise and stand up for the innocent lives. Also, our shelters are out of control killing hundreds and thousands of dogs. why is this happening???
