Stop Circus Suffering

Wild animal circus ban in Estonia must not be weakened

Legislation could be diluted to ban just apes, big cats, bears and elephants

Following the announcement last August [link to web page] that Estonia was proposing to introduce a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses, there is a risk that the legislation could be diluted to ban just apes, big cats, bears and elephants.

The bill will be heard in parliament in the Autumn and in the meantime Loomus is keeping the issue in the public eye. An “animals are not clowns” drawing competition has had attracted some fantastic entries as pictured and the lucky winner will get to see Cirque du Soleil in Tallinn.

All wild animals suffer the effects of being in the circus and it is important that the ban passes without amendment. ADI will be supporting Loomus’ efforts to ensure that it does.
