No escape from the circus for wild animals despite ban
Defra Minister Lord de Mauley has confirmed to ADI that the Government will press ahead with legislation to ban the use of wild animals in travelling circuses but a loophole will still allow circuses to continue to tour with these animals provided they are not displayed.

The costly licensing scheme for wild animals in circuses, which became effective in January, has failed to issue licences to the two circuses that have applied to include wild and exotic animals in their circus tours for the 2013 season, which has already got under way.
