Stop Circus Suffering

Circus ban for England passes next stage!

The bill to ban wild animals in circuses across England has passed the Committee stage in the House of Lords.

ADI thanks peers for rejecting proposed amendments that would have diluted the bill and permitted the use of captive-bred wild animals. The next and final stage will be the Third Reading in the House of Lords.

After nearly 20 years of exposing the terrible suffering of animals in British circuses, and campaigning year on year for a ban, it seems almost hard to believe after so many broken promises that this legislation is finally within reach.

Once secured, our work will continue, to get bans in Wales and Northern Ireland to get the UK-wide legislation the public wants and the animals need.
