On 4 September 2013, the Ministry of Agriculture held a roundtable meeting on the use of animals in circuses.

The event was attended by our friends at the Estonian Society for the Protection of Animals (ESPA) and representatives of other groups, including the Estonian Union for the Protection of Animals, Estonian University of Life Sciences, Veterinary and Food Board, Environmental Inspectorate, Tallinn Zoo, Ministry of the Environment and Leifi Rahvusvahelise Meelelahutuse OÜ.

A statement from the Ministry on this issue is expected in the near future.

ESPA and In the Name of Animals have initiated a public petition calling for the prohibition of animal circuses. The petition will remain open until April 2014 and ADI is supporting efforts by both organisations to stop circus suffering in Estonia.
