Massachusetts bans wild animal acts!
Governor signs bill banning the use of elephants, big cats, primates, giraffes, and bears in traveling acts
Governor Maura Healey has signed bill H4915 into law, officially banning the use of elephants, big cats, primates, giraffes, and bears in traveling exhibits and shows statewide! Massachusetts is now the sixth US state with such a ban, which takes effect in 90 days.
ADI has worked for many years alongside our MA supporters, providing oral and written testimony in support of expanding the original bullhook bill to a full wild animal ban, and hosted multiple Lion Ark screenings in the state in support of the ban.
Our thanks again to the bill sponsors State Representative Carole Fiola, State Representative Brad Jones, State Senator Adam Gomez and State Senator Bruce Tarr, and to EVERYONE who has helped to support the passing of this bill.
We look forward to pushing for a federal US-wide ban following the House, Senate and Presidential elections in November.
In the US, please urge your Congress members to support the reintroduction of the Traveling Exotic Animal and Public Safety Protection Act (TEAPSPA) for a nationwide ban. https://bit.ly/SupportTEAPSPA
