14 states in Iran ban wild animal circus acts
Great progress on circus campaign which has secured government support
Since our friends at Animal Rights Watch launched their ‘NO TO CIRCUS’ campaign, supported by ADI, a total of 14 states have banned wild animals in circuses!
The campaign even has the support of the Department of the Environment, who are responsible for granting licences to circuses performing with wild animals but have allowed ARW to use its logo on their campaign poster.
ARW have participated in a number of meetings with the Department of Environment to discuss the use of wild animals in circuses and one such meeting involved a circus owner who had bought a lion from a zoo without a licence. Following ARW’s intervention, the lion was returned to the zoo and it was agreed that homes would be found for their other animals, a bear and two monkeys.
