ANOTHER WILD ANIMAL CIRCUS BAN!
Wenatchee, WA bans exotic/ wild animals in circuses
Wenatchee City Council has unanimously voted to ban exotic and wild animals in circuses and traveling shows and to restrict private ownership. Exemptions include ‘educational’ display of wild animals, and won’t apply to domestic animals, non-venomous snakes, and common reptiles. Animals covered under the ban include elephants, big cats, bears, apes, monkeys, and marsupials.
Last December, the Washington district, responsible for Town Toyota Center’s operations which hosts circuses, had placed a 6-month ban on exotic circus animals. The decision followed growing concerns among constituents over animals used in circuses. The ban takes effect 30 days after passage.
