In 1999, Mary Chipperfield, her husband, Roger Cawley, and the elephant keeper, Steve Gills, were all convicted of cruelty on the basis of evidence collected by ADI Field Officers.

In October 1999 we learned that Suzanne Cawley (Chipperfield) had applied to Test Valley Council for a new Dangerous Wild Animals Act (DWAA) Licence for the facility owned by her parents, Mary and Roger Cawley, at Croft Farm in Hampshire.

On Thursday, 13th July, Mary (Chipperfield) and Roger Cawley called it a day and Croft Farm went on sale – asking price £1 million.
