Stop Circus Suffering

Missoula City Council bans wild animal performances

City Council voted 8 to 3 in favor of a ban on wild animal performances in the city!

ADI congratulates the Missoula City Council for voting 8 to 3 in favor of a ban on wild animal performances in the city! The sponsor, Councilmember Bryan Von Lossberg, said the effort to protect the safety of both animals and people was initiated by local advocates concerned about animals suffering in the circus and he agrees that “times have changed” regarding the performing of wild animals. The ban, which goes into effect in 2016, is a first for Montana and will ban the display or performance of any wild and exotic animal within the city. ADI submitted evidence and shared language suggestions with the Council for the ordinance.

If you are inspired by these local advocates and want to start a similar campaign in your community to ban wild animals from traveling circuses, contact ADI and we will help you get started!
