Stop Circus Suffering

The Circus Cruelty Prevention Act (SB313) seeks to ban wild animal circus acts across California.

In late June, 2019, New York looked set to become the third US state to pass a ban on wild animal acts, but sadly it wasn’t to be – this time.

Momentum to stop circus suffering is growing, with new local bans in Ohio and Massachusetts.

On May 21, 2019, Representatives Grijalva (D-AZ) and Schweikert (R-AZ) reintroduced the Traveling Exotic Animal and Public Safety Protection Act (TEAPSPA; HR 2863), to end the use of wild and exotic animals in traveling shows in the US.

Recently introduced by Rep. Melissa Shusterman, HB996 already has 32 cosponsors!

Connecticut is the latest state to put forward proposals to end traveling wild animal acts. Four bills – HB5024, HB5248, HB6001, and HB6017 – have been introduced and are now before the Joint Environment Committee.
