Letter to Prime Minister calling for swift passage of wild animal circus ban
We, the undersigned, are concerned that since the Government announced its intention to ban the use of wild animals in circuses in March 2012 and following the publication of the Draft Wild Animals in Circuses Bill last April, little progress appears to have been made to bring this widely supported and long overdue restriction into law.
ADI and PETA criticise film for using abused circus elephant
The Hundred-Year-Old Man is a movie directed by Felix Herngren which bills itself as a comedy, however there is absolutely nothing funny about the shocking abuse of poor Vana Mana, the elephant whose use in the movie has been condemned by ADI and PETA ahead of its release in Germany on March 20th 2014.
Arts Council continues to support circus suffering in Ireland
The Arts Council of Ireland continues to fund animal circuses and has given grants of tens of thousands of Euros each year to Duffy’s Circus, Circus Gerbola and Fossetts Circus. The Council itself receives funding principally from the Irish Exchequer and National Lottery.
